Spooks Family Mantel

Hello everyone! Happy October to ya! Isn’t it fun to decorate for Halloween?! I love to add a lot of whimsy to my home for this holiday in particular, although my sons are 16(tomorrow! Happy Birthday Chayce!!!) and 13. As always, I have changed my mantel to match the season.

This mantel belongs in the Spooks family home. :)

There were several little projects but my favorite is this mixed media piece of the Bride of Frankenstein. I absolutely LOVE mixed media!!! You can get messy, add anything you want, and there is NO WAY to make a mistake! PERFECT ART FORM!!!

I also really enjoyed making this Scary Aunt Lou Spook. She’s so flamboyant with her oversize flower in her hair on her skull:) This was made with the plain, brown, paper masks that are just a couple bucks at Michael’s. It’s painted with shimmery pearl acrylic paint. I mod podged a book page heart on the top and then just made some lovely swirls and doodles all over with a sharpie. FUN!!

The other family members had their pictures made last year. I think I got the images from the Graphic’s Fairy. She has super cool stuff, by the way.

I hope you’re enjoying the season as much as I am! When this comes down it will be the jolliest time of year to decorate! WOO HOO BABY!!!!

I’m off to start creating some sweet 16 bday party decorations for my baby boy! Wow- where does the time go?! I mean, seriously?!

Linking up to this fabulous party! Thanks to Emily of 52 Mantels for the invite:)
